  • Here's the overall sequence. You should be able to see the raised center part of the top drag plate when reinstalling.
  • All cleaned & ready for the Dragmasters Carbon Fiber Drag Washer Upgrade!
  • The smallest drag washer of the set always goes on first under the drive gear & should look like this.
  • Now, slide on your drive gear...
  • ... then install the carbon fiber drag washer with the largest center hole. This is specially cut to fit inside the drive gear to clear the raised center portion & is always the first of the three larger carbon fiber drag washers that are to be installed.
  • This is the first of the "keyed" metal drag plates that originally came with your reel, taking note that there are 2 different types, this will be the flatter of the two, using the one with the raised center portion for the very top "keyed" drag plate.
  • Now install the first of the small hole carbon fiber drag washers followed by the metal "eared" plate.
  • ...and should look like this!
  • Now, install the second small hole carbon fiber drag washer followed by the second of the two metal "keyed drag plates. Remember, this will be the steel drag plate with the raised center portion. This is TGT0794 Key Washer 'A'
  • The raised center portion should be visible as shown here & needs to be replaced if it is collapsed. A new key washer is available upon checkout for a buck!
  • Now slide on your roller clutch inner tube (TGT0489), followed by one of the copper bearing thrust washers (TGT0359). Although it is not shown this way in the schematics, it is extremely important you do this!
  • Now your ready to pop on your side cover, shims washers, star drag knob, handle & hardware. That's it!

This complete set of four DRAGMASTERS   Tournament Series carbon fiber drag washers that feature more surface area are compatible with all popular brands of drag grease but have proved without a doubt, to be untouchable in the Great Lakes Region when run dry!

It is however, highly recommended to use your favorite drag grease when used in any saltwater or brackish environment.
